Thomas Raymond Streicher, Sr. peacefully passed away while planting vegetables at his farmstand on Saturday, May 13th, 2023. He was born on May 8th, 1944, to John P. Streicher and Rosanna Streicher (Bumba), he was the seventh of ten children. He lived in Gurnee almost his entire life. He enlisted in the Army as a missile technician in 1967 and spent a few years traveling around the US and serving his country honorably. He raised five great kids- Tessa, Chad, Tom Jr., Ian, and Morgen and was a loving father and all-around great man.
Among his many accomplishments in life, the one that set him apart from other people is the fact that he ran “Rosies” farmstand for over forty-five years. He could always be found sitting in his truck with his cup of coffee and morning newspaper and enjoying the simple pleasures in life. He was a pillar of the community and an overly honest businessman to the point where he was basically giving stuff away for free most of the time to his customers!
There are so many things we could say but saying them will only diminish who he was and to preserve his memory, we would only ask that if you knew him to share a funny story or anecdote about how quirky and wonderful, he was and remember all the joy and laughter he brought to the world.
He is survived by his five children, his brothers Nick and Mike Streicher, and many other cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life, which will be held at the American Legion in Gurnee on Saturday, May 20th from 12-4pm with Army Military Funeral Honors at 3pm.
