Therese Mary Namtvedt

Therese Mary Namtvedt, 62 years of age, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her side on October 24, 2022, at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Chicago, IL. She transitioned with the most beautiful and comforting prayer from the hospital Chaplain, accompanied by her and Karl’s so meaningful song, "Hero" by Mariah Carey… she fully knew she was finally going to get to see her hero once again. 

She was a graduate of Morton West Class of 1979. Therese, second generation from Croatia, provided her passion for caring and putting others’ needs first by providing and working as a certified nursing assistant for several years in and around Lake County, IL. Her real passion proves through the love she shared with her family.

Best friend, soul mate, and wife of 18 years, to the beloved late, Karl Namtvedt. She was also preceded in death by her father, John Polich, mother, Nada Vidas, brother, Frank Polich, sisters-in-law, Doreen Ramey and Lisa Johnson.

Therese’s strengths and values shine on through her survived daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Michael Cavanaugh, Son and daughter-in-law Russell and Jaimie Kolek. Her charisma and liveliness lives on through her beloved grandchildren or as she would refer “beautiful grand babies”, Mary, Jack, Kelly Anne, and Heidi June of Elizabeth and Michael. Her playfulness moves forward through her fur-grand babies or as she’d call them her “little cuuuties”, Whiskey and T-Rex of Russell and Jaimie. Her compassion carries onward with her brother and sister in-law John and Mary Polich, sister and brother-in-law Carol and Harold Ebnet. Through Karl, her love shines unto brother-in-law, Tom Ramey, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kerri and Dan Ellis. Her youth carries to her many nieces and nephews whom she adored with her whole heart.

A celebration of life gathering will take place on Monday, June 5, 2023, from 9-10am, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd., Gurnee, IL. A memorial mass will be held at 10am, at church. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville, IL. Arrangements entrusted to Sambrano Funeral & Cremation, Gurnee.
