Sosamma Mathen

Sosamma Mathen, of Waukegan, IL, passed away November 10, 2020, in Chicago, IL. She was born in India to the late Easo and Mariamma Varughese. Our mom was such a caring, loving soul. She worked hard to provide and take care of her family. My dad always says she is the light of this house. She filled our lives with her songs and prayers. As we sat down for evening prayer we all sat around listening to her beautiful Malayalam songs. We will forever cherish all she has done for us. We love you mom. Sosamma is survived by her loving family; her husband of many years, Kadapoor Mathen; three children, Shyni (Blesson) George, Shyla (Jay) Mathews, and Shaun Mathen; one brother, Kurian Varughese; one sister, Kunjamma; eight grandchildren, Jeremy, Dillon, Rachel, Selena, Nickolas, Andrew, Tristan, and Peyton; and many extended family and friends. Visitation and funeral services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon, at St. Mary's Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, 6801 W. 96th Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.
