Shelley Shepherd Obituary

Shelley L. Shepherd, 56, a resident of Gurnee, formerly of Round Lake Beach, passed away peacefully at home May 5, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born October 4, 1968, in Waukegan to the late Maurice and Judy (Smith) Shepherd.

Shelley retired after 30 years of service from the Insurance Industry. After retirement, she and her daughter, Chelsea, opened an in-home Daycare that is thriving. Shelley loved going to beaches, taking cruises, dancing, attending many concerts, going to Ravinia, and was an avid Prince fan. She enjoyed eating at different restaurants such as Texas Roadhouse, Olando’s, where she ate the “Booty Sandwich”, and Greg’s Frozen Custard, where she enjoyed the lemon custard ice cream. Shelley loved all the holidays, especially Christmas, and attending the Lake County Fair “back in the day” was a special time throughout her life. She participated in the demolition derby for two years, and loved riding her fast, red motorcycle. Shelley was a trailblazer, a leader, never a follower, someone who will be deeply missed and always remembered. Above all, she loved her family, and truly enjoyed spending time with them.

Shelley is survived by her loving family, her daughter and son-in-law, Chelsea and RaDarius Pough; sons, Arrick McGee and Masen Clark; grandchildren, DaNae Pough and Kayde Pough; sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Brian Scott; nieces, McKenzie Scott and DeLaney Scott; nephew, Ryan Scott; her best friend for over 30 years, Hope Chapa, and her son who passed away, Noah Chapa; her companion, her dog, Jerzzie; and a loving aunt, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends. In addition to her parents, Shelley was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Peter and Ruby Smith; and her aunt, Barbara Baumgart.

A celebration of life will take place Friday, June 6, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at The Chapel, 1200 American Way, Libertyville, IL with Pastor Matt Slove officiating.
