Shawn Taylor Obituary

Shawn D. Taylor "S.T." was born March 25, 1971 in Waukegan, Illinois

to Linda Mayfield and Jake Jackson.

God blessed Linda and Shawn with his Pop's, Raymond "Daddy Trim" Mayfield who raised him as his own son.

Shawn Taylor of Zion, Illinois, departed this life on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

As a child, Shawn loved his mother, but some would say he most definitely was a Grandma's Boy. He enjoyed going to church with his Grandma Bettie, who taught him to love Jesus Christ.

Shawn was a very mannerable kid, who was adventurous. He loved to break dance and won contest at Waukegan Waterfront.

He attended Waukegan High School and received his diploma in Chicago, Illinois. His first job while attending high school he wanted to get a car and of course, he accomplished that. His next goal was to make sure his Mommy and family were ok, and of course, he did that.

Even as he became an adult, Shawn referred to his mother as Mommy.

Shawn had a love for basketball, you would say, he was a Couch Coach, and spent many hours in front of TV cheering the Bulls to victory.

Shawn was always a loving, respectful, mannerable person who stayed calm. He was a Big Brother to his girl cousins. "S.T." was the person who lit up the room when he entered with his smile, laughter and jokes.

Shawn leaves to cherish in his loving memory: His Parents, Linda and Raymond Mayfield, Jake Jackson; One Brother, Kwantez Taylor; Five Uncles, Ernest (Barbara) Taylor, Alan (Shantal) Taylor, Johnny Jackson, Forest Jackson and John Mayfield; Five Aunts, Velma Johnson, Mildred Taylor, Barbara Ann (James) Brown, Loretta Cole, Gloria Carr, and a host of

nieces and nephews. Shawn was preceded in death by His Grandparents,

Ernest Taylor, Sr. and Bettie Taylor; Brother, Tremaine Taylor; Uncle,

Addison Taylor and Aunt, Lizzie Taylor-Armstrong. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11am, visitation from 10am-11am at Word of Life Ministries, 10215 W. Beach Rd. in Beach Park. Apostle Dr. Ernest and Prophetess Dr. Barbara Taylor will officiate the services. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion. Arrangements entrusted to Sambrano Funeral & Cremation, Gurnee. Memorial donations may be made to his family, in care of his mother, Linda Mayfield.
