Raquel Gloria Cano, lovingly known as “Rocky”, 82, a lifelong resident of Waukegan, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on Tuesday, November 10, 1942, in Waukegan to the late Felipe and Gloria (Campos) Padilla.
Rocky worked and retired after many years of service from Abbott Labs. She will forever be missed and loved by all who knew her.
Rocky is survived by her loving family, her three daughters, Colleen (Ector Diaz) Sinsun-Ramos, Jeannette “Jenny” (Tito) Sinsun-Rodriguez, and Frankie Jo Sinsun; grandchildren, Clarisa Sinsun, Tamara (William) Rosales, Tarah Franz, Junie Rodriguez, Allie Rodriguez, Frankie Sinsun, Joseph Melendez, Joshua Melendez, Joviana Melendez, Jasperin Melendez, Joel Melendez, and Julian Melendez; and many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Raquel was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Cano; her son-in-law, Luis Ramos; and grandchildren, Casper Hernandez, Noel Hernandez, Jesus Melendez, Brandon Hernandez, and twin grandbabies, Angel and Amor Aguilar.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, at New Beginnings Church, 101 S. Beck Road, Lindenhurst, IL. Funeral services will take place after the visitation at 11:00 am, at church, with Rev. Marvin Bembry, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville.
