Patricia "Pat" Anne Rasmussen

Patricia “Pat” Anne Rasmussen, 66, went home to be with the Lord on October 28, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 16, 1956, in Waukegan to the late William and Alice (Freise) Souza. Pat married the love of her life, Lance Rasmussen, whom she has known since high school, on April 26, 2014, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Gurnee. 

Pat had a warm and always-giving heart with a gentle but strong will who also knew how to have a bit of fun. Her faith was a steady presence throughout her life and a church-founding member of Bethel Lutheran Church of Gurnee. There she provided comforting dishes for fellowship and pot-lucks, sang in the choir and served as a Sunday school teacher. 

Besides being Lance’s ‘Angel,’ Pat raised two beautiful daughters, Christin and Alicia. She recently extended her natural motherly love to run ‘Grandma Camp’ camping with her grandkids over the past 2 summers. She was also the host of countless family gatherings. 

Her interests and talents included bowling, hiking, photography, gardening, quilting, sewing, crocheting, attending Chicago Wolves games, craft shows, and many girl’s nights out. She provided many hand-made gifts to friends, family and, of course, all the newborn babies she knew. She was recently an avid traveler and camper, as this brought her much joy throughout her treatments and fight against cancer. Some of her favorite peaceful past times included enjoying the sunsets with loved ones on Washington Island in Wisconsin. 

She gave generously of her time to support several causes. Pat’s giving spirit included over 10 years of fund-raising through St. Baldrick’s Foundation for research to support the fight against childhood cancer, and to no surprise also pushed herself to bike 100 miles, alongside dear friends, throughout the month of September through the Great American Bike Challenge Project for a similar cause. 

The gifts that God provided us through Pat will be cherished and always remembered. 

Pat is survived by her husband, Lance; daughters, Christin (John) Pritchard and Alicia (Nick) Kazarian; step-son, Joshua Rasmussen; grandchildren, Cali, JJ, Gabriel, Mara, Noah, Domenick, and Maddy; brothers, William (Connie) Souza and Robert (Ann) Souza; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lynne (Bill) Gordon, Leslie (Bob) Remich, Laurel (Bob) Tobias, Arthur (Stacey) Rasmussen, Amy Rasmussen, and Larry (Tracey) Rasmussen; nieces and nephews, Jaime (Jon) Souza-Yurk, Wade (Lindsey) Souza, Joseph Souza, Jay Souza, and many more nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Souza; and sister-in-law, Leigh Drinkwine.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 5-8pm, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5110 Grand Avenue, Gurnee. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022, at 11 am (visitation from 10-11am) at the church with the Rev. Dr. Ben Squires officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Libertyville.
