Michael Scotte Van Lake

Michael Scotte Van Lake, age 46, of Lake Villa, IL, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. 

Mike was born on March 16, 1977 to Richard and Peggy Van Lake in Lake Forest, IL. After graduating from Warren Township High School in 1995, he went on to work for Procter & Gamble, kicking off a 26 year career in manufacturing. 

Mike was a devoted father to his three children, Morgan, Chase and Kenzi. He shared his love of the outdoors with them through riding ATVs, camping and fishing. He enjoyed family vacations with his sister Kristen and her family.

While Mike was in the hospital, he was blessed to have a caring team of family and friends supporting him through everything. They all spent countless hours at the hospital to make sure he was never alone. He was frequently visited by friends from as far back as elementary school, newer friends, and friends from work. They all told stories about how much Mike has meant to them by helping them through a tough time, lending an ear when they had a problem, or simply sharing a laugh. Mike was always up for an adventure and was a loyal friend with a big heart. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating Mike’s life on February 17, 2024 at Fatmans in Gurnee, IL from 2pm to 6 pm. Please come ready to share your best Mike stories!
