Lawrence John Brink, 84, of Gurnee, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. He was born Tuesday, December 31, 1940, in Waukegan, IL to the late Walter Carl and Helen S. Brink. He graduated from Waukegan High School in 1958. A few years later, he bought a new home in Gurnee where he raised his family and continued to live the rest of his life. He lived humbly, loved deeply, and measured life by moments, not possessions.
Lawrence leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, gentle humor, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple gifts. He was a man who never needed much to be content. He enjoyed a good day outdoors enjoying nature, feeding the birds and deer in the backyard, and watching NASCAR on the weekends.
Lawrence, a beloved father and grandfather, is survived by his loving family, his daughter and son-in-law, Vicki (Carl) Johann; son and daughter-in-law, Robert (Nelida) Brink; son-in-law, Gregory Crowley; his former wife and friend, Patricia Brink; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Robert) May; eight grandchildren, Nathaniel (Brooke) Crowley, Matthew Crowley, Brandon (Diana Moreno) Crowley, Brittany (Michael) Prewett, Janelle (Daniel) Lopez, Joshua Johann, Leslie (Stan Sono) Gaytan, and Bradley Brink; five great grandchildren, Cameron Crowley, Mason Crowley, Ariene Prewett, James Prewett, and Saeren Prewett; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Laurie Crowley; and his brother, Bruce Brink.
Though we will miss him more than words can express, we honor him by carrying forward his love for family, his appreciation of nature, and his reminder that life’s simplest moments are often the most meaningful.
He was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed.
