Jose "Demetri" Hernandez

Today we remember Jose "Demetri" Hernandez. A loving husband of 35 years, to Kathy; father to Vasi and Andrew; son-in-law to Vicky; and a wonderful grandfather to Layla and Tommy. He was preceded in death by his beloved father-in-law, Angelo Vassos.

He was a master craftsman- always getting his hands into different projects around the house as he enjoyed a beer. After a hard day's work, he loved to enjoy time sitting outside with his family. As a man who loved the outdoors, he cherished wildlife such as deer and birds, especially Cardinals. He loved seeing the flock of birds at their feeders. He taught us all the value of slowing down and savoring every moment as he was a man of the simpler things in life. His presence in our lives was a gift that will always be cherished. His family was his greatest legacy.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 10am-11am, with a funeral service at 11am, at Ascension of Our Lord Greek Orthodox Church, 1207 Riverwoods Rd., Lincolnshire, IL with Fr. Sotirios Malamis officiating. Burial will follow at New Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Cemetery in Third Lake, IL.
