John Francis Howe

John Francis Howe, 86, of Gurnee passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Friday, December 23, 1938, in Highland Park, IL to the late Francis John and Lucille (O’Leary) Howe. On December 2, 1961, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Waukegan, John married Naomi Sylvia Rosenlof. John was a United States Army Veteran.

John is survived by his five children, Erin Burza, Kelly (Paul) Maplethorpe, Sean Howe, Ryan Howe, and Shannon (Rodney) Lunkenheimer; eight grandchildren, Megan (James) Messina, Kyle (Trace) Burza, Kara Maplethorpe, Amy Maplethorpe, Scott (Kali) Maplethorpe, Erik (Rebecca) Maplethorpe, Daniel Lunkenheimer, and Sara Lunkenheimer; great grandchildren, Joaquin Navarrete, Olivia Messina, Matthew Messina, Maeve Maplethorpe, Emerson Maplethorpe, 2 expected great grandchildren on the way; and brother and sister-in-law, Michael (Cathy) Howe. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Naomi Sylvia Howe.
