Joe Bill McPherson, 87, went home to be with the Lord on December 6, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on September 14, 1936, in Anderson, IN to the late Ferrel, Sr. and Verena (Carte) McPherson. On June 29, 1957, in Waukegan, IL, Joe married his best friend, Linda Morris.
Joe will be remembered for his strong work ethic and commitment to his family. Post-retirement, he enjoyed countless days at his Florida condo, lots of time on the golf course at Bonnie Brook, and playing his favorite role of all, “Papa.”
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Linda McPherson; three children, Lisa (Mike Hahn) Sorenson, Julie (William) Coronelli; and Michael (Andrea) McPherson; six grandchildren, Melissa (Bojan) Adzic, Patrick (Kalli Smith) Sorenson, Maria Coronelli, Joseph (Shahana) Coronelli, Connor and Brendan McPherson; one great grandson, Nikola Adzic; one sister, Alyce Tiani; brother-in-law, David Paulson; sister-in-law, Dolores Christian; and several nieces and nephews, including Kathleen (Joe) Chalker. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Ryan Sorenson; his brothers, Ferrel, Jr., Richard, Robert, David, and James McPherson; sisters, Jacqueline Schubert and Mary Kay Balcom; sister-in-law, Joan Paulson; and brother-in-law, James Christian.

There will be a memorial visitation from 9am-11am, on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Gurnee Community Church, 4555 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee. Services will begin at 11am at church with Pastor Chris Stephens and Pastor Brian Walter officiating. Interment will be private.
