Jann Freehling

Jann Freehling, 49, of Gurnee, Illinois, passed away on March 25, 2021, after a long battle with cancer.

Jann was born to Sue and LeRoy Lohman in Geneseo, Illinois. After graduating from Geneseo High School, she went on to study Finance and Accounting at the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.  Jann also earned her MBA from Loyola University of Chicago.

Jann worked at Abbott Laboratories for over 20 years in Finance and Procurement, making many friends along the way.  She worked primarily in Lake County with expat assignments in the Netherlands and Switzerland.

In 1998, she met the love of her life, Steven Freehling, and they wed in 2000, going on to have two children whom she adored, Mineva and Lily.

Jann was passionate about her family.  When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she enjoyed traveling, having visited over 20 countries.  Jann enjoyed skiing, the outdoors and experiencing new cultures with her family.  She was a loving supporter of the Church and numerous charities.  She made a positive impact in the lives of all around her.  We will miss her greatly.

We take comfort in the grace provided by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ knowing that Jann is basking in His glory, free of pain and sorrow.

Jann was predeceased by her father, LeRoy Lohman; father-in-law, Dale Freehling; and sister-in-law, Karla Lohman. She is survived by her husband, Steven Freehling; daughters, Mineva Freehling and Lily Freehling; mother, Sue Lohman; brothers, Brett (Harlene) Lohman, Todd (Chris) Lohman, Scott (Pam) Lohman; sisters, Jill (Joe) Dubin and Lynn (Jeff) Anderson; mother-in-law Karen Freehling; brother-in-law Mike (Lora) Freehling; sister-in-law Marcia (Mike) Kackmeister; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of life on Monday, March 29, 2021, at 6pm at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5110 Grand Ave., Gurnee with Rev. Dr. Ben Squires officiating; visitation will be from 4-6pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, to honor Jann, the family asks that donations be sent to:
