Hermine “Mimi” Kalanke, 88, of Grayslake, Illinois, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on April 19, 2024. She was born in Germany on February 20, 1936. Some of Mimi's pastimes included, skiing, swimming, and being Omi to her grandchildren.
Mimi is survived by her loving family: her husband of more than 35 years, Edwin “Ed” Kalanke; one daughter, Susan Sperling; one son, Ronald Mueller; two grandchildren, Krista (Aaron Kregness) Sperling and Brandon (Jessica) Sperling; two great granddaughters, Elise and Avery Sperling; and one sister, Isolde Hartl. Mimi was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband and father of her children, Norbert Mueller; her nephew, Edi Nachtmann; brother-in-law, Hans Hartl; good friend, Celine Birnbaum; and her adored dogs Falco, Heike, and Brandy.
Services will be held at Village Church of Gurnee, 1319 Hunt Club Rd. Gurnee, IL 60031, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Save-A-Pet, Inc., 31664 N.
