Grace M. Wurzbach

Grace Wurzbach, age 93 of Lindenhurst, IL, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2023. She was born May 11, 1930, in Melrose Park, IL to the late Egbert and Grace (Collins) Tull. On July 3, 1954, Grace married the love of her life, Max Wurzbach, who passed away on May 25, 2000. Grace was a long time resident (63 years) of Grayslake until moving to The Village at Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst, IL, in 2019.

Grace was a loving and caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and needlework. She loved going camping and playing the harmonica. Grace was the ultimate “Lunch Lady”, cooking for the students at Avon Center School in Round Lake Beach for many years, then at Grayslake High School and Lake Forest High School.

Grace is survived by her two daughters, Susan (John) Fox, Linda (Dan) Kolar,  one son, David (Linda) Wurzbach; five grandchildren, Craig (Jennie) Fox, Nicole (Santhanai Xayvong) Fox, Brenna Kolar, Kevin Kolar, Megan Wurzbach; one great-grandchild, Owen Fox Xayvong; one sister, Edith Jendal; one nephew, David (Sandy) Jendal, and one niece, Lori (Todd) Tobler. In addition to her parents and husband, Grace was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Kurfirst, and two brothers-in-law, Ed Kurfirst and Warren Jendal.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with a celebration of life service at 6:00 p.m., at Gurnee Community Church, 4555 Old Grand Avenue, Gurnee, IL with Pastor Brian Walter officiating. Burial will be on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at East Fox Lake Cemetery in Lake Villa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Hope Foundation (Journeycare Hospice) at Journeycare.org
