Elliot Gauze

Elliot Gauze, 82, went home to be with the Lord April 3, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in Zion, IL. He was born November 24, 1940, in Williamson, WV to the late Perry and Brady (McCoy) Gauze. On July 21, 1962, in Freeburn, KY, Elliot married the love of his life, Danford Ingersol.

He was a welder by trade, loved playing music, golfing, fishing, gardening and studying the Word of God. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and uncle (AKA "Unc") to many wonderful nieces and nephews; some of which he considered to be his own children.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Danford Gauze; sons, Ellioc (Lisa) Gauze, Brady Gauze, and Ronald Gauze; daughter, Sandra (James II) Pantel; grandchildren, James Pantel III, Stephanie (Carlos) Murillo, Micah (Tresa) Pantel, Shannon Pantel; Cody (Alyssa) Gauze, Laura Gauze, Jacob (Meagan) Jarrell, Lauren (Casey) Lipsey, Michael Gauze, David Gauze; great grandchildren, Juliandra, Princeton, Waylon, Jackson, Genesis, Zoey, Levi, Jackson, Emily, Jaxon, Paityn, Kingston, Serena, Lucas, and Nathan; brothers, Troy Gauze, Dennis Wolford, Earl Wolford Jr., David Wolford; sister-in-laws, Sue Harshbarger, Joyce Gauze; brother-in-law, Bill Kohl; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Elliot was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Charlie Gauze, Stewart Gauze, Bill Wolford, Ernest Wolford, Ed Wolford, and Raymond Wolford; sisters, Dorothy (the late Ervin) Bentley, Mary Kohl, Marie (the late Dave) Anders, and Shirley Wolford-Coleman; his grandsons, Jesse Kutinac, Jordan Gauze, and many dear aunts, uncles, loved ones, and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 6:00 pm, at Spirit of Life Pentecostal Church, 1222 Lorelei Drive, Zion, Illinois. Interment is private.
