Dorothy “Faye” Kramer went home to heaven to be with Jesus on October 9, 2021, at age 77. She died peacefully at home in Gurnee lovingly surrounded by her husband and children. Faye was born to Dee Andrew and Dorothy Lucille (Mitchell) Leech on April 27, 1944, in Amory, Mississippi. Faye spent her early years growing up on the farm and moved to Zion, Illinois in 1953. She graduated from Zion Benton High School in 1962, and fondly recalled her high school years. She would pile her friends into her mom’s car and “scoop the loop” in downtown Waukegan. Faye married William “Bill” Kramer on June 19, 1971, and they just celebrated their milestone 50th Anniversary together. She was a committed wife and loved her children and grandchildren.
Faye became a Christian in her mid-twenties and put God first throughout her life. She was a prayer warrior, spending time each morning praying for her children, grandchildren, friends, and others. She was passionate about sharing her faith in Christ, writing letters to friends and family members, and handing out Daily Bread devotional booklets.
She was a devoted mother of three and loved attending her kids’ events, whether it was various music recitals, cheerleading, basketball, or soccer. She worked as a secretary at several insurance agencies and churches, especially enjoying her time as clerk at a gift shop in downtown Lake Forest. Faye absolutely loved vegetable and flower gardening, becoming an accomplished Master Gardener when she turned sixty. Her yard and flowers were meticulously maintained, and she passed on her love of gardening to all three of her children.
Faye is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her three children: Terri (Tom) Perrizo, Erin (Doug) Zelenko and Keith (Amy) Kramer; her grandchildren: Josh (Shelby) and Joey Perrizo; Zachariah, Zoltan, Zane and Zekiel Zelenko; Carsen, Madelyn and Allison Kramer; her three brothers: Joe (Joyce) Leech, Don (Lisa) Leech and Wally (Nanette) Kern. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Jacob Perrizo.
