Diane M. Petlak, 91, of Wildwood, passed away peacefully August 22, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 16, 1931, in Chicago to the late Earl Francis and Irene (Brindise) Kawell. Diane loved crocheting, cross-stitch, needle point, and baking. She was a YABA bowling coach for many years, and had a passion for decorating at the holidays. Diane is survived by her children, Nora (Tim) Hester, Randy (Kris) Petlak, and Ida Brooks; grandchildren, Diana Rhodes, Nikole (Ken) Miller, Lindsey (Frankie) Petlak, Joshua (Andrea) Petlak, Austin (Jamie) Petlak, Tasha Smith, and Sami Smith; great grandchildren, Kyra Sharp, Sarah Carlson, Mackenzie Miller, Dean Carlson, Ryan Carlson, Cayden Petlak, and Carter Petlak; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Adam E. Petlak, whom she married on April 19, 1952, in Chicago; her beloved son, Adam Lee Petlak; and her siblings, Ruth Lejsek, Ella Wilson, Earl Kawell and Robert Kawell. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 10:30 am, with visitation from 9:30 pm-10:30 am, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1151 N. St. Mary’s Rd., Libertyville, with Rev. Robert Davis officiating. Interment will be private. We would like to thank Star Hospice, her nurses, Molly and Becky, and Deacon Joe, for all the love and care they gave to Diane.
