Cathy Chesser

Cathy Chesser, 67, a longtime resident of Gurnee, passed away suddenly on January 25, 2025. She was born September 15, 1957, in Sparta, IL. 

Cathy met the love of her life, Glendon L. Chesser, Jr., when she was 14 years, and they married on August 25, 1973, in Lindenhurst, IL, when she was 15 years old. They were so proud to have been married for the last 51, almost 52 years. 

Cathy earned her nursing degree from the Gateway Nursing Program, all while working and raising her three sons. She was a Registered Nurse at Vista Health for nearly 40 years. Cathy was a career baseball mom; traveling with her son's baseball teams for many years. She loved spending time with her husband at their home in Upper Michigan. Her passion was feeding her wildlife pets including bears, deer, birds, and also caring for her flower garden. 

Cathy is survived by her loving family, her best friend and husband, Glendon "Glen" L. Chesser, Jr.; her three sons, Glendon L. Chesser III, Brandon J. C. Chesser, and Justdon D. Chesser; her mother, Earlene Mathis; her mother-in-law, Norene Chesser; three grandsons, Glendon L. Chesser IV, Jacob Chesser, and Joshua Chesser; two great grandchildren, Branson Chesser and Blake Chesser. She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard M. J. Mathis; two sisters, Connie Mathis and Cheryl Mathis; her father-in-law, Glendon L. Chesser, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Shawn Chesser.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 3pm-4pm, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5110 Grand Avenue, Gurnee, IL. A memorial service will take place at 4pm at church following the visitation, with Rev. Dr. Ben Squires officiating. Interment will be private.
