Bernard “Ben” Rautanen, 86, of Zion, passed away October 5, 2018, at home. He was born March 22, 1932, in Amasa, MI to the late Vernon and Inell (Heitala) Rautanen. Ben was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed Accordion and Polka music, hunting, traveling to the U. P., and retired from Sessler Ford in Libertyville after 30 years of service. He is survived by his brother, David (Charlotte) Rautanen; sister, Beverley (Henry) Snyr; nieces and nephews, Joey Snyr, Kathy (Mike) Alvarado, Tonya Snyr, and Don (Becky) Rautanen; many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his beloved niece, Ruth Ann Rautanen-Major. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 10am until the celebration of Ben’s life at 11am at Trinity United Lutheran Church, 658 Grand Ave., Waukegan with Pastor Richard Grudt officiating. The US Army Military Funeral Honors will follow the memorial service at church. Interment will be private. Arrangements entrusted to SAMBRANO FUNERAL & CREMATION, Gurnee.
