Barbara Ricard

Barbara Ricard, 78, of Grayslake, formerly of Gurnee, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025. She was born on February 21, 1946, to the late John and Stella (Lisowski) Sczygielski. 

Barb was an accountant at Victory Memorial Hospital. She was a longtime member of the Red Hatters and was the coordinator of the Victory Memorial Hospital Festival of Trees annual fundraiser for many years. She loved talking to all of her friends and family, enjoyed all the local restaurants, was an avid novel reader, answered questions while watching Family Feud, and enjoyed going to casinos with family and friends. Barb will always be remembered as Nana's Chauffeur Service for her grandsons and her sister. 

Barb is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Linda Ricard; two grandsons, whom she adored, Lars Ricard and Henry Ricard; sister, Stella Sczygielski; brother and sister-in-law, Thom and Heather Sczygielski; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her beloved husband of many years, Michael Ricard; and her siblings, John, Jimmy, Mike, Frank, Joe, Mary, Mernie, and Walter.

Visitation will be held at Ringa Funeral Home, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave., Lake Villa, IL, on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 2pm-6pm. A funeral mass will take place at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Road, Gurnee, IL, on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 10am with Fr. Chris Ciaston officiating (please meet directly at the church on Monday). Burial will be private and held at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.
