Albert Michael "Mike" James

Albert Michael "Mike" James, 65, of Gurnee, passed away peacefully on Jan. 24, 2018 at JourneyCare in Glenview. He was born Jan. 14, 1953 in Grenada, Mississippi to Howard Franklin and Faye (Bowen) James. On Jan. 24, 1976 in Montgomery, Alabama, Mike married the love of his life, Charlotte Anne Lockhart.  Mike loved golfing, traveling, listening to rock music, and always enjoyed a good steak. He coached his two children in youth sports, and was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. Mike is survived by his loving children, Brandon (Melissa) James and Shelby James; brother, Steve James; sister, Kay (Michael) McCoy; sister in-law Glenda (Danny) Mitchell; nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Jon) Carlos, Kristyn (Jeremiah) Dykes, Christopher James, Shea (Mandy) Mitchell, Heather Mitchell and 9 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife of 38 years on July 11, 2013, Charlotte James. He rejoins her on their 42nd wedding anniversary.  A memorial gathering will take place Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 from 2:30pm-3:30pm with a memorial service at 3:30pm at Gurnee Community Church, 4555 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee with Pastor Chris Stephens officiating.
