Terrance Lee Cashmore, 73, of Lindenhurst, IL, passed away after a long, courageous battle with cancer January 3, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Terry was born September 23, 1945 in Gurnee, IL to Gerald and Wanda Cashmore. He graduated from Waukegan High School, where he met the love of his life, Jonell Laufer. The high school sweethearts married August 7, 1965, and spent 54 wonderful years together.
Terry had an extensive career in law enforcement spanning more than three decades. During his tenure with the Lake County Sherriff’s office, Terry held many positions within the department to include Highway Patrolman, Detective, Narcotics Officer, and Tactical Unit Commander. As Terry rose through the ranks, he achieved the prestigious status as Deputy Chief of the Court Security Division and served the public for the longest period of time in the department’s history as Deputy Chief of the Highway Patrol Division. In addition to his extensive training portfolio, he was selected to attend the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA and successfully graduated.
After retirement, Terry and Jonell took many wonderful trips and traveled all over the world. In addition to travel, Terry loved to drive his 1965 GTO, his “baby,” going to the casino, fishing, attending car shows, and most of all spending time with his loving family and close friends. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father, papa, great papa, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a heart of gold, a great sense of humor, was truly one of a kind, who may be gone, but will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his three loving daughters, Ginger (Paul) Setzer, Wendy (Chad) Paul, and Nicole (Dan) Florio; his treasured grandchildren, Kristie (Nicholas) Furlan, Kyle Setzer, Alyssa Gersy, Caitlyn Baylor, Kaden Setzer, Andrew Gersy, Dylan Baylor, Jordyn Baylor, great-grandsons, Tyler and Carter Furlan; brothers, Michael Kent Cashmore and Charles Cashmore; sister, Shirley (Richard) Henry, brothers and sisters-in-law, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
