Leona M. Lambert, 90, of Waukegan, passed away on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 with her family at her side. She was born on May 8, 1928 in Eolia, KY. On Dec. 23, 1947, Leona married Oliver T. Lambert, Sr. in Middlesboro, KY. Surviving Leona are her; sons, Johnny Lambert of Wauconda, Jim (Barb) Lambert of Zion, Tom Lambert of Chicago, Bill (Debra) Lambert of Bristol, WI; daughter, Wanda (Jeff) Rivelli of Beach Park; brother, Hillis Lambert; 24 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and extended family, Toy Zahn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Anna (Boggs) Lambert; beloved husband of 60 years, Cpl. Oliver T. Lambert, Sr.; 9 brothers and sisters; daughter, Alice Branstetter; son, George Lambert; daughter-in-law, Sherry Lambert; granddaughters, Brenda and Leann Branstetter; grandson, Russell “RORO” Rodriguez, and extended family, Rick Zahn. Leona was witty, kind, generous, a mother to all, always had a hot meal and place to stay for anyone in need, and never turned anyone away. She was the greatest example of love and grace, and will be missed in a world she helped create. A very special thank you to her nurses at Vista Hospice, Katie, Sandy, and especially Ashleigh. Friends may meet with the family on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 from 5:00 pm until services at 7:00 pm at Village Church of Gurnee, 1319 N. Hunt Club Rd., Gurnee. Inurnment will be private and take place at a later date.
