Jon Bernard Daley

Jon Bernard Daley, age 66, went to be with his Lord, on Tuesday, March 5, 2019.  He was born on May 19, 1952, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and passed away at his home in Gurnee, IL.  He will be lovingly remembered by his significant other and friend, Laurie Gale Mendell, and his daughter, Joni Leean Mendell- Daley.  He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Debi and Bruce Snider; Nieces and nephews, Chris Snider, Jason, Josh, and Kevin Daley, Mindy Daley Heyboer, Melissa Daley Giles, Tyler Giles, Heather and Jacob Daley; as well as great grand-nieces and nephews, Lexie Snider, Tori Giles, Evan, Ethan, and Alec Wolf, Grant and Mason.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Alfred and Betty Ann Daley; and brothers, Jim and Kevin Daley.  He served our country in the United States Air Force.  He graduated with an associates degree from the University of California-Davis and received his bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.  Jon often traveled all across the world for his work; he loved to spend time with his coworkers and visit new places.  He enjoyed watching an attending many sports including NASCAR & drag races, football, basketball, tennis, golf.  He spoiled his only daughter, as well as the family’s six indoor/outdoor cats and all of the other various wild animals that visit his backyard.  His favorite spot to relax was on his back deck, but he loved to vacation with his family in Grand Haven, MI.  Jon was a selfless and generous man, helping anyone who needed it without a second thought.  He will be remembered for his warm, inviting smile and big bear hugs. 
 
A memorial gathering will be held at Immanuel Church, 2300 N. Dilleys Rd., Gurnee, IL on Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 2:00pm-5:30pm with services beginning at 3:00pm.  Interment will take place in Michigan at a later date.
