Jo Anne Michele Thompson, 53, of Wauconda, passed away February 6, 2019, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington. She was born August 31, 1965, in McHenry to the late Lawrence Louis and Dolores June (Miller) Tegtmeyer. On December 31, 2006, in Vernon Hills, Jo Anne married George Thompson II. Jo Anne graduated from Wauconda High School in 1983, where she was active in high school plays. Following high school, Jo Anne attended Trinity College in Deerfield. She loved to sing, enjoyed Karaoke; in fact, she traveled for many years with her church choir, "Tell the World." Jo Anne adored her nieces and nephews, and her love for children overflowed through her outreach in children's church pageants and children's choir. She was both a founding member and an AWANA leader at Camp Agape, as well as a member of Women of the Moose Lodge in Wauconda. For many years, Jo Anne cared for our military by getting them to a Thanksgiving meal while they were away from home. She is survived by her husband, George; step-daughter, Samantha Thompson; mother-in-law, Sharon Thompson; sisters, Susan Shepherd and Lou Anne (John) Bunge; brothers, Lawrence (Sherry) Tegtmeyer, Jr. and John (Kathy) Tegtmeyer; sisters-in-law, Cathy Leahy and Jaini Thompson; nieces and nephews, Joe (Brittany) Sharp, Krista (Justin) Haske, Ryan Shepherd, Jennifer (Joe) Kabrin, Christine (Pete) Nehmzow, John Bunge, Jr., John Tegtmeyer, Alan Tegtmeyer, Katie Tegtmeyer, Chanel Doree' and Ross Doree'; great nieces and nephews, Kyra Sharp, Oliviah Sharp, Nathaniel Sharp, Jamilynn Haske, Lucy Haske, Gunner Haske, Emily Kabrin, Elizabeth Nehmzow, John Peter Nehmzow, Alexi Bunge, Karl Bunge, Owen Bunge, Elliott Bunge, and many friends. In addition to her parents, Jo Anne was preceded in death by her father-in-law, George E. Thompson, and brothers-in-law, William Shepherd and Tom Leahy. A memorial service will take place Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at 11am with visitation from 10am-11am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 25225 W. Ivanhoe Rd., Wauconda, IL with Pastor Dawn Mass officiating; lite luncheon to follow at the church. Interment will be private. Arrangements entrusted to Sambrano Funeral & Cremation, Gurnee.
